Kamm & Sons Expands Their Range with Mr Kamm’s Gin
Apr 9th, 2018
Alex Kammerling, the industry expert behind bartender-favourite Kamm & Sons British Aperitif is expanding the range with his newest invention: Mr Kamm’s Gin.
Bottled in the same iconic bottle as Kamm & Sons, Mr Kamm’s Gin is a modern interpretation of a classic London Dry Gin, using a colourful blend of 45 ingredients designed to enhance the flavours of traditional gin botanicals. Made in a hand-beaten copper still and starting from a barley base spirit, botanicals that some may recognise from those included in Kamm & Sons are added along with some new additions. Ginseng adds a unique twist, along with Apricot kernel, hibiscus, rosehip, blue butterfly pea and citra hops which results in a soft, complex gin with an extra-dry finish.
The recipe took Alex (a self-confessed perfectionist) two years and over 180 distillations to find the perfect balance of flavours. Originally invented at the bottom of Alex’s garden in Finsbury Park, the distillation is now done by his parents at the end of their garden in Surrey. Mr Kamm’s Gin uses a one-shot distillation technique which results in a deeper and more rounded flavour, but also limits the yield to a maximum of just 80 bottles per day.
Due to the addition of fruits, flowers, nuts, berries, barks, roots, citrus peels, seeds, berries, herbs, spices and healthy dose of juniper (which are represented by individual colours on the label), Mr. Kamm’s goes particularly well with other herbal recipes such as Campari, Chartreuse, vermouths and amaro’s making it a perfect gin for premium cocktails.
Mr. Kamm’s pairs perfectly with Fever-Tree Mediterranean Tonic, best served long over ice with a slice of cucumber and grapefruit wedge to garnish.
Mr Kamm’s Gin (42% ABV) is available to buy exclusively in Fortnum & Mason from 1st April 2018 and has a RRP of £45.00
