Love Drinks Supports The Girls’ Network in its decade of trade

Feb 28th, 2018

This year sees Love Drinks celebrate its tenth year of trading. Throughout the year, we will put on a series of events to commemorate our decade in the drinks trade. This will include fundraising activity for our nominated charity, The Girls’ Network.

Inspired by the charity fundraisers who she met whilst receiving her British Empire Medal for services to the drinks industry, Kirsty Loveday, founder of Love Drinks, wanted to support a charity where she could contribute more than money; she wanted to contribute her time and knowledge and hopes that others in the trade might do the same.

The Girls’ Network is an award-winning charity which aims to inspire girls between the ages of 14 – 19 from the least advantaged communities, supporting them to be ambitious and reach their aspirations, by matching them with a professional female mentor. In addition to this, the Girls Network also looks to give the girls real life experiences through work placements and apprenticeships.

“When I started the business ten years ago, so many people gave me their time and advice and I was overwhelmed by the support that was given to me. It was always my intention to give something back when I had the ability to do so, and my work with The Girls’ Network is just one way in which I’ll be doing that. I’ll be mentoring one of the girls from The Girls’ Network but also we’ll be supporting the charity by giving up our time as a business to support them in various ways.

“The people that I met at the medal presentation ceremony in the Tower of London had done incredible things for their communities and the areas in which they worked”, said Kirsty. “It made me think about how all the incredible things I’ve learnt in this industry, can be passed on to help others but also to promote the industry in turn.

“Our sector offers so many interesting, innovating and exciting job roles from brand ambassadors, to marketing experts to drinks creators. It so varied but we all need to show those joining employment, or who are in employment why they should choose our sector and the amazing opportunities it can give you – no one is more aware of that than I am.”

The Girls’ Network is looking for businesses and organisations from willing to partner with them and transform the futures of girls across the country. They are looking for women to volunteer as mentors, and men to share the work that The Girls’ Network are doing with their friends and colleagues.

In addition to this, they are looking to hear from schools and housing associations working with girls that would benefit from the support of a professional female mentoring her and access to a huge network of opportunity and inspiration.
