The founder of Hayman’s Gin, Christopher Hayman, recently received a Lifetime Achievement Award at Think Gin 2017.
Celebrating his 50 year contribution to the industry, it recognises his leading role in re-introducing ‘lost’ styles of gin such as Hayman’s Old Tom back into the market as well as his championing of classic styles such as Hayman’s London Dry.
Speaking of his award, Christopher said: ‘There is no industry quite like ours. It has been a joy to spend the last 48 years in an trade I love, working alongside people who care about their craft. It is our partners, our customers and our team that have been at the heart of our success and I would like to dedicate this award to them – and in particular to thank our international partners for helping us to build the business over the last ten years.’
In addition to building the Hayman’s gin business, Christopher was instrumental in setting up the WSET Award in Spirits, is on the advisory board of the International Centre for Distilling and Brewing and has held positions as Chairman of the UK Gin and Vodka association, Master of the Worshipful Company of Distillers and as one of the founders and the first Grand Rectifier of the Gin Guild in the UK.
