El Dorado Demerara Rum, the multi- award-winning Caribbean rum range, has teamed up with Latin-inspired restaurant, Las Iguanas, to host the Las Iguanas Cocktail Challenge which is voted for by members of the general public and Las Iguanas customers.
The challenge, which is open to all employees of the restaurant group and must feature El Dorado 5 Year Old, searches for a cocktail which will feature on the 2017 Las Iguanas cocktail menu from March 2017.
In addition to having their drink in lights, the creator of the cocktail will also win a trip to Guyana, the home of El Dorado Demerara Rums.
All of the entries will be whittled down to the top ten which will be presented to a panel of judges including Luke Neale, Head of Bar Operations & Beverage Development at Las Iguanas, Dean MacGregor, El Dorado Brand Ambassador and Alexandra Byrne, Brand Marketing Manager for El Dorado.
The cocktails will be shortlisted down to three, where the team members who created them will make and serve them to a host of invited guests on Wednesday 16th November from 6-9pm at Las Iguanas in Horner Square, London E1. Tickets cost £20 and are available to buy here. Each guest will be given four tokens so that they can try all three cocktails and then vote for their favourite using the last token.
Speaking about the competition, Alexandra Byrne, Brand Marketing Manager for El Dorado Demerara Rums said; “It’s great that we are collaborating with the team at Las Iguanas in their Cocktail Challenge. El Dorado 5 Year Old, with its dried tropical nose and its fruit, caramel and toasted coconut tones, is the perfect ingredient for any summer cocktail. Dean and I are looking forward to trying the drinks. We’re looking for something that will transport us to a tropical island and evoke memories of summertime, especially as we’ll be sampling the drinks in what no doubt will be a cold, wet November!”
