Seven Seasonal Sips With Hayman’s Gin

There’s no getting away from the fact that Christmas is coming.

Always one step ahead, the team at Hayman’s Gin have created a selection of seasonal cocktails to complement its award-winning classic London Dry Gin.  Fresh, crisp and elegant, with a lively citrus finish, Hayman’s London Dry is the perfect partner for a tonic and a must-have in your favourite gin cocktail.

Making the most of seasonal fruits, juices and spices, as well as winter favourites such as Stone’s Ginger Wine, Croft Original Pale Cream Sherry, the cocktails are a collection of twists on classic cocktails and range from simple serves to sophisticated cocktails..

 

1. Hayman’s Winter Gin & Tonic

Method
Fill a highball glass or a balloon glass with large cubes of ice
Pour in 50ml Hayman’s London Dry Gin
Top up with premium quality tonic water
Garnish with a slice of orange and a star anise

 

2. Hayman’s Apple & Ginger Bellini

Ingredients

35ml Hayman’s London Dry Gin
20ml cloudy apple juice
1 teaspoon of ginger jam
Dash of sugar syrup
Top up with sparkling wine

Method
Add all ingredients, excluding the sparkling wine, in a cocktail shaker with cubed ice .  Give it a good shake then pour into a flute glass through a fine strainer. Top up with sparkling wine and garnish with a cube or two of crystallised ginger.

 

3. Hayman’s Sherry Stocking

Ingredients

50ml Hayman’s London Dry Gin
1 clementine cut into wedges
75-100ml sweet Sherry e.g. Croft
Top with soda water
Dash of sugar or bitters to taste

Method
Squeeze clementine wedges into bottom of a high ball glass.  Build all ingredients into the glass. Add cracked or crushed ice & ensure the drink is thoroughly mixed by agitating the ingredients with a spoon.  Garnish with a large orange wheel and Maraschino cherry

 

4. Hayman’s Winter Warmer

Ingredients

50ml Hayman’s London Dry Gin
50ml Stone’s Ginger Wine
Dash of sugar or bitters to taste

Method
Fill a tumbler with cubed ice and pour the ingredients over the ice.  Garnish with a cinnamon stick and large orange wedge

 

5. Sloegroni

Ingredients
40ml Hayman’s London Dry Gin
25ml Hayman’s Sloe Gin
15ml sweet vermouth

Method
Fill a tumbler with cubed ice and pour the ingredients over the ice.  Garnish with an orange twist.

 

6. Hot Apple Toddy

Ingredients
50ml Hayman’s London Dry Gin
150ml good quality apple juice
50ml water
2 teaspoons muscovado sugar
5 small dashes ground allspice
1 dash cinnamon
2 dashes orange bitters (e.g. The Bitter Truth Orange Bitters)

Method
Add all ingredients to a pan and warm to just before boiling and so all ingredients have combined.  Serve in a warmed punch or latte glass.  Garnish with a cinnamon stick, orange twist and nutmeg grated on top.

 

7. Bramley Apple ‘Martini’

Ingredients
50ml Hayman’s London Dry Gin
50ml good quality Bramley apple juice
20ml lemon juice
10-15ml sugar syrup
2 teaspoons Bramley apple sauce
2 dashes orange bitters (e.g. The Bitter Truth Orange Bitters)
1 egg white

Method
Shake all ingredients thoroughly and without ice.  Shake again, this time with cubed ice and pour into a coupe glass through a fine strainer.  Garnish with fine slices of apple.

* Bartenders: On top of the foam sprinkle a generous layer of sugar (could also add nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla to the sugar) then use a chef’s blow torch to bruleé the top
